The next leg of Nottinghamshire’s pre-season will take them to South Africa for a second successive year.

The bowlers jet on Sunday to take part in an eight-day bowling camp in Pretoria before the squad convenes on Monday 11 March in Potchefstroom.

A two-day match against Yorkshire on 15 & 16 March will be followed by two 50-over matches against local opposition, one of them a specially-selected Titans Invitational XI with the fixture, in Centurion, marking Proteas international Albie Morkel’s last appearance in the colours of the franchise after retiring earlier this year.

The tour will then conclude with further match practice against Durham with the definitive date(s) to be confirmed.

“It’s always an exciting time of year after a long winter. The lads have worked hard and are now ready to get outside and play some competitive cricket," said Head Coach Peter Moores.

“It’s also a chance to get the lads together and clarify our plans for the coming season”

Upon returning from the tour, Notts will face Northamptonshire at Trent Bridge across three days from 26 to 28 March.

That is followed by a three-day fixture against Cambridge MCCU at Fenner’s from 31 March to 2 April, before the Specsavers County Championship begins on Friday 5 April with the visit of Yorkshire.
