Joey Evison’s unbeaten half-century was the highlight of a rain abridged day between the Second XI’s of Nottinghamshire and Warwickshire at Lady Bay.

Evison’s 78* guided the home side to 409-8 declared in their first innings after Liam Patterson-White was out to Tom Milnes without adding to his overnight 153.

The 17-year-old right-hander faced 179 balls and struck 13 boundaries in his patient innings. A partnership of 65 with Sam Hall (36) eased Ant Botha’s men towards their eventual declaration.

Samit Patel, batting at number seven, edged Ethan Brookes behind the depart for 17.

By close of play, Warwickshire had reached 189-3 in reply with Matthew Lamb unbeaten on 67 – Jack Blatherwick having taken 2-74 and Mark Footitt’s 11 overs costing 18 runs for the wicket of Daniel Mousley.
