Samit Patel's defiant unbeaten innings of 136 proved to be the difference as Notts Outlaws edged past Northants to win the Royal London One-Day Cup North Group.
Patel arrived at the crease with the score on 39-3, and remained in imperious touch even as wickets continued to fall and an unlikely victory moved into view.
The right-hander secured the Outlaws passage to a home semi-final with a flourish, scoring 14 runs from three balls in a stunning final over.
