Luke Wood has joined Northamptonshire on a month-long loan deal, covering four Specsavers County Championship matches.

The 23-year-old is expected to be available for the match beginning against Lancashire tomorrow (Tuesday) as well as home fixtures against Sussex and Glamorgan and the away trip to Durham.

The deal marks the second time Wood has joined Northamptonshire on loan this summer, after featuring in their opening game of the season against Middlesex.

“We’ve got a block of red-ball fixtures coming up over the next couple of months that could go a long way towards shaping our season in four-day cricket,” said Nottinghamshire Director of Cricket, Mick Newell.

“We may well need Luke to contribute to that – and we’re certainly likely to need him during the rest of the season with both the red and white ball. The best way for him to be as ready as he can be is by playing first team cricket, and he has a chance to do that at Northamptonshire which we welcome.”

Wood has made one appearance in the Specsavers County Championship as well as a solitary start in the Royal London One-Day Cup for Nottinghamshire this season. He scored 50 and took 1-62 with the red ball against Somerset at Trent Bridge and took 2-36 in the 50-over fixture against Worcestershire.
