Ravi Ashwin and Matt Carter have been named Nottinghamshire Player of the Month for July and August respectively.

Ashwin claims the John Pye-sponsored honour for his sterling performances with both bat and ball, which also saw him claim the Professional Cricketers’ Association’s award for the month.

The India international scored 197 runs at 39.40 and took 23 wickets at 19.91 in his first stint with the Club, scoring one half-century and taking three five-wicket hauls.

Ashwin is pictured receiving his award during the lunch interval on day one of Nottinghamshire’s Specsavers County Championship fixture against Kent.

Carter, meanwhile, has been a key performer in Notts Outlaws’ run to Vitality Blast Finals Day.

The right-armer’s economical bowling has been the main feature of his limited-overs campaign, with his T20 economy rate standing at 6.44 ahead of the Edgbaston showpiece.

The 23-year-old has also taken 11 wickets in the tournament to date, the second-most of any Outlaw.

The duo join Joe Clarke, Samit Patel and Ben Duckett as Player of the Month winners this season.
