A trio of Trent Bridge projects have been named as finalists in the upcoming Notts Getting Active Together Awards.
The Haydn Road Community Cricket Club, an inner-city project which runs cricket-based activities for a diverse audience of children, women and individuals from the south Asian community, is shortlisted in the Project/ Innovation of the Year category.
Meanwhile, Trent Bridge has secured two nominations for the Inclusive Project, Group or Club of the Year award.
Nottinghamshire’s operation of the Super 1s programme – a disability cricket initiative created by Lord’s Taverners – has been nominated for the award, alongside the Trent Bridge Community Trust’s Forget Me Notts sessions for individuals living with dementia.
“We’re delighted that three such worthy projects are receiving wider recognition,” said Mandy Wright, Nottinghamshire’s Community and Development Manager.
“The establishment of the Haydn Road club has been a real labour of love, after we spent 18 months working with the community in Basford to find out exactly what they wanted and needed from a modern-day cricket facility – and it’s been great to see that we are inspiring new communities to pick up a bat and ball.

“In the first year of offering Super 1s sessions across the county, we’ve been blown away by the support and enthusiasm for disability cricket – and by how those who’ve taken part have developed their social and leadership skills.
“And, having been involved with Forget Me Notts when it was first set up, it’s been very rewarding to see it expand this year to provide a unique opportunity for those with dementia to follow their sporting passions.”
The award-winners will be revealed in a ceremony at the Djanogly Theatre on Thursday 5 March.
Nottinghamshire Membership for the 2020 season is on sale, with those who join for next season bestowed access to all scheduled Notts home matches, international tickets in Members' areas and a range of exclusive benefits.
