Peter Trego and Sol Budinger both reached three figures as Nottinghamshire’s Second XI amassed a mammoth total on day three of their Championship encounter with Warwickshire.

Budinger, who resumed on 75, brought up his hundred from 87 deliveries, weathering the early loss of opener Matthew Montgomery (147).

The left-hander continued to score freely in the company of skipper Trego, with the duo chalking up a 58-run partnership before Budinger’s enterprising knock came to a close on 112.

Budinger hit 18 fours and three sixes in the course of his innings, and Trego’s innings was similarly typified by an element of attacking intent.

The right-hander found the boundary on 13 occasions before reaching his century, finding support in a steadfast knock from Toby Pettman (30).

Pettman was ultimately adjudged lbw to Manraj Johal, with James Hayes accompanying Trego for four overs before Trego declared Nottinghamshire’s innings closed on 660/8, leaving himself unbeaten on 147.

In reply, Dan Mousley (24*) and skipper Ed Pollock (28*) proceeded untroubled through the remainder of the evening session, reaching stumps 244 in arrears on 56/0.
