Northamptonshire’s County Ground has been announced as the host venue for the final of the domestic women’s 50 over competition, the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy, on 25 September.

The league leaders at the conclusion of the seven game round robin group stage will progress straight to the final, while second and third will compete against each other for a spot in the showpiece event.

The Southern Vipers are the reigning champions having beaten Northern Diamonds in last year’s Edgbaston final, and the Ageas Bowl-based outfit currently sit atop the table with four games played.

Meanwhile Lightning, the region representing the East Midlands and who boast Notts’ Sonia Odedra, Teresa Graves, Sophie Munrio, Lucy Higham and Yvonne Graves, currently sit fourth in the table with two wins and two defeats from their four games.

The competition is set to resume 10 September following the conclusion of the Charlotte Edwards Cup, and Lightning will face visits to Beckenham and Bristol to face the South East Stars and Western Storm, before a home game against Central Sparks at Loughborough University’s Haslegrave.
