Joe Clarke is set for a stint working under green and gold immortal David Hussey after signing for the Melbourne Stars.

The Notts Outlaws’ big hitter will get his second taste of Australia’s Big Bash League, following a short stint with the Perth Scorchers last winter, and will come up against county teammate Ben Duckett in the colours of the Brisbane Heat.

Dan Christian, whose five-year spell as Notts captain in T20 cricket was broken last year by an Australia international call up, will feature in the tournament for reigning champions Syndey Sixers.

Clarke’s record in T20 cricket since his arrival at Trent Bridge in 2019 is as prolific as it is brutal, featuring 1,027 runs in 34 outings at an average of 34.23.

He has passed 50 on seven occasions during that time, twice going on to reach three figures, most recently with a 65-ball 136 against Northamptonshire Steelbacks in 2021.

David Hussey, who played 223 matches as an overseas player for Nottinghamshire between 2004 and 2013 averaging 61, 38 and 36 in the respective forms of the game, is Head Coach of the Melbourne Stars.
