Nottinghamshire U18s rounded off their season with a pair of friendly T20 victories over Worcestershire at Lady Bay.

In two tight affairs, the Green and Golds won the first with the final ball faced, Byron Hatton-Lowe pushing to cover and running through for a single to complete the chase of 146.

Bowling first, Thomas Giles and Drew Owen took two wickets each with the latter conceding just 17 from his four overs.

In reply, Ben Martindale laid the platform for Notts with a 48-ball 58, and skipper George Park scored 43 off 33 to bring the hosts within touching distance.

The home side required three runs from the final over with five wickets in hand, but lost another to Jack Warner with the first delivery, Haider stumped by Henry Cullen. Two singles from four balls followed before Hatton-Lowe sealed the win.

In the second fixture, having amassed 199 - 89 of which came from Sammy King - Notts resisted a charge from Oliver Cox who struck 68 from 28 balls, as the Pears finished three short.

King was offered support by Lucas Stentiford’s 41-ball 55 on the way to their total, and it looked to be enough until the arrival of Cox.

The right-hander blistered six fours and five sixes and carried the visitors towards the total with opener Myles Holland. With 25 required from Hatton-Lowe’s final over, Holland struck a six over mid-on to leave the win on the cards, but visiting hopes were dashed when the seamer followed up with a dot and a wicket.

Cox finished with a flurry - two sixes and a four - but his side left the East Midlands winless.
