Toby Pettman and Calvin Harrison shared seven wickets as Somerset were bowled out for 256 in their second innings of the Second XI Championship match at Taunton Vale.

Pettman added 4-38 to his first innings analysis of 3-67, whilst Harrison rounded off match stats of 6-95 with three wickets in each of the hosts’ knocks.

That set the Green and Golds exactly 300 runs to win, but lost Sol Budinger before the close, caught by Roelof van der Merwe off Marchant de Lange without scoring.

Whilst Pettman and Harrison stole the show with the ball, it would be Zak Chappell, himself on his return from injury, who would snare the first wicket early on the third day, Dylan Church caught behind for 26.

Ben Green and Lewis Goldsworthy set about their attempts at putting the game out of site of the visitors, their stand of 65 for the second wicket broken by Pettman.

Harrison trapped George Bartlett in front for four, before two wickets in quick succession for the off-spin of Matt Carter started Somerset’s downfall.

The hosts were eventually bundled out for 256 in their second innings, Pettman and Carter combining to take the final five wickets.

Set 300 to secure back-to-back victories in the Second XI Championship, Budinger fell in the first over, before Matt Montgomery & Dane Schadendorf both progressed to seven not out, the score on 14-1 at the close.
