Ella Porter blazed 95* as Notts U18s beat Leicestershire by 13 runs to start their Royal London One Day Cup campaign in perfect style.

The opener carried her bat, and found important company in number eight Olivia Baker (32) who joined Porter with the score at 75/6, before adding 97 for seventh wicket.

Ruby Neal then claimed 3-18 defending Notts’ 179, while captain Rhiannon Knowling-Davies and Molly Greasby each claimed two wickets.

Contributions of 27, 26, and 22 from Prisha Thanawala, Flora Davies and Lucy Weston gave the visitors their best chance of success, despite the loss of regular wickets.

With 28 runs required from the final four overs the game still looked in the balance, but with only two wickets to play with, a tidy finish from Knowling-Davies and Olivia Baker handed the hosts victory.
