Dane Schadendorf hit fifty before Nottinghamshire earned valuable time in the field as their two-day friendly with Loughborough UCCE petered out into a draw.

After rain meant play was significantly shortened on day one, the Green and Golds batted for a further 39 overs, declaring on 266 for seven, before stepping into the field.

Loughborough then had the opportunity to bat for 69 overs themselves, and Ben Chapman-Lilley amassed an unbeaten 116 as they replied by reaching 248 for four at close.

Earlier, Sam Seecharan had been bowled by Joe Everett five overs into the day, before captain Matthew Montgomery then retired on 63, having reached fifty yesterday.

That brought Schadendorf and Sam King (21) together, and they posted a fourth-wicket partnership of 72, within which was the former's half-century from 71 deliveries.

Tom Hinley dismissed Ben Martindale (6) and Matt Carter (9) before the declaration arrived at lunch, with Qundeel Haider (4) and Fateh Singh (8) the unbeaten duo at the innings’ end.

King then took the first Loughborough wicket to fall, having Joe MacGregor caught behind by Schadendorf for 27, before Carter pinned Jack Nightingale in front for 19 shortly afterwards.

Chapman-Lilley reached fifty shortly after tea, as he and Donald Butchart (34) added 70 for the third wicket, and he put on another half-century stand with Harry Gouldstone after Martindale had removed Butchart.

The opener manoeuvred his way to 100 before Haider ran out Gouldstone for 34, after which play was then brought to a close and the draw agreed shortly before 6:00pm.
