Nottinghamshire staged a late fightback on the second day of the Second XI friendly against Leeds/Bradford UCCE, taking five wickets for five runs to leave the hosts 75-6, responding to the Green and Golds’ 108.

The three day game will play to a conclusion on Thursday, with no play possible on the first day due to inclement weather.

Having won the toss and elected to bat, only Monty Montgomery (22), Sol Budinger (12) and Matt Carter (25) were able to reach double figures for Notts as Worcestershire Academy seamer Ben Parker took five wickets for the concession of 16 runs.

The hosts' response began steadily, too, despite Andrew Neal dismissing Will Wade for 14.

The second wicket partnership between Ibtesam ul Haq - son of Pakistan icon Inzamam - and Sam Dorsey added 47 before Nottinghamshire’s spinners wreaked havoc.

In an eight over spell, Carter and Calvin Harrison ripped through the Leeds/Bradford top order, the former claiming three wickets to add to his earlier runs, while leg-spinner Harrison took 2-11, bowling four maidens across his ten overs by the close.
