The Outlaws return to white-ball action at Trent Bridge, as Sussex Sharks provide the opposition in Notts' maiden Royal London Cup clash of the season.

You can catch every ball of the action live at trentbridge.co.uk/live, with the contest featuring subplots aplenty.

Hameed takes the reins

Haseeb Hameed's white-ball career with Notts has been short and sweet to date.

But his two Royal London Cup appearances before his return to the England Test side were enough to show his aptitude for List A cricket.

A brisk ton against Warwickshire at Edgbaston was the crucial contribution as Notts won their 50-over opener in 2021, and the right-hander will be bidding for similar productivity this summer.

He will do so as skipper of the Outlaws for the first time, having shown more than a little creativity when given the responsibility of captaining Nottinghamshire in their 2022 pre season friendly against Warwickshire.

The Sharks return

Sussex's defeated red-ball side would barely have reached Hove after last week's defeat at Trent Bridge before it was time to spin on a sixpence and head north once more.

And many of those in the visitors' camp will be returning to seek revenge in the Royal London Cup.

Their squad includes captain Cheteshwar Pujara - fresh from his ultimately futile attempts to hold back the Trent Bridge tide last week - and Ollie Robinson, who secured ten wickets in last week's County Championship reverse.

The next generation

While it is difficult to tire of a Ben Slater cover drive or a Dane Paterson peach, the fascination of the coming weeks lies in the rising stars in the Outlaws' ranks.

The likes of Matthew Montgomery, elevated to first-team cricket mere hours after his signing was confirmed last summer, and whose record in the Royal London Cup and on his Notts First-Class debut suggests he is up for the challenge.

Or Fateh Singh, an 18-year-old whose academic education has only just concluded, but who has enjoyed a priceless cricketing apprenticeship with Notts and the England Under 19s.

They are just two of a host of teenage and twentysomething tearaways in the Outlaws' corner.
