Farhan Ahmed and Drew Owen each took three wickets as Durham piled on 330/9d in 90.2 overs on the first day of Nottinghamshire’s third Championship game of the season.

Lucas Stentiford and Qundeel Haider batted unbroken for the remaining 13 overs, cutting the deficit by 56 at Lady Bay.

After winning the toss and deciding to bat, all of Ben McKinney (72), Ross Whitfield (74), and Harry Crawshaw (88) made it to their respective half centuries before departing, as Notts clawed their way back into the contest.

The platform had been laid however, and steady cameos throughout the order left the North East outfit with a commendable first innings total.

Travis Holland, Sam Seecharan and Thomas Giles claimed the other three Durham wickets to fall.

In reply, Stentiford and Haider batted positively to bring up an unbeaten stand of fifty for the first wicket prior to the conclusion.
