Home advantage and squad experience paid dividends as Notts overcame Surrey by eight wickets at Welbeck, according to seamer Toby Pettman who took his first senior wickets for Notts on his second List A outing.

Pettman finished with figures of 4-44 as the visitors were dismissed for 183, a target chased within 32 overs by the Outlaws, spearheaded by an unbeaten 82 from opener Ben Slater.

The 6’7 paceman praised the effect of Brett Hutton (3-24), with whom he shared the new ball, for his role in blasting the away side out, with pressure placed on the Surrey top order from both ends from the outset.

He also reflected on the developmental opportunities garnered by spending time on Loan with Derbyshire and Middlesex, stints which enabled him to feel although he ‘belonged’ at the first team level.
