Nottinghamshire Club President and former player Basharat Hassan will be the guest speaker at the next meeting of the Nottingham Cricket Lovers’ Society, from 7pm on Thursday 5 January at Trent Bridge.

Basher began his long association with the club in 1966 when he joined Nottinghamshire as a player, amassing over 20,000 runs for the county and being part of the 1981 County Championship winning side.

After retiring, Basher had a stint as a first-class umpire and also worked as the club’s Commercial Manager, before joining the General Committee in 2005. His time as president of Nottinghamshire began in early 2020.

The conversation with Basher will be preceded by a short presentation by lighting engineer Neil Johnson on cricket under floodlights. Neil grew up in Nottinghamshire, and went on to design the floodlights at Trent Bridge and other English Test Match grounds.

Membership of the Society is £15 for the full season, or £5 for an individual meeting.
