Restaurant Six, the elevated dining destination at Trent Bridge, has appointed Harvey Perttola to lead its kitchen team.

Nottingham-born Perttola arrives with over a decade of experience gained at leading establishments in Birmingham and London, having been the youngest Head Chef in the Second City during his time at three-rosette Maribel.

The 26-year-old also spent a year at the helm of Friends restaurant in Greater London, and was part of the team which delivered four rosettes and a Michelin Star to Hampton Manor in Solihull.

“I can’t wait to play my part at such an historic venue,” he said.

“The vision that everyone at Six and at Trent Bridge shares is what really drew me in. It’s a stunning restaurant in a beautiful location with a clear idea of what it wants to be.

“Having grown up in the city before moving to Birmingham and working in London, it’s great to be able to come full circle now and return home. Six feels like the perfect place to continue my journey.”

Perttola is set to appear on BBC Two's Great British Menu from Tuesday 1 February, as part of the competition's heats for the Central region.

With the likes of Michelin-starred Tom Kerridge passing judgement, contestants will be challenged to create dishes which celebrate 100 years of British broadcasting.

“Nottingham is very much on the path to becoming a landmark culinary destination in this country, and Six is striving to be a part of that,” he continued.

“My menus are typically seasonal and garden-led, and my vision is centred on producing dishes that are clean, simple and fresh.

“Classical French techniques and modern British styles are at the core of everything I do, along with the influences of all the mentors and family members who have helped me along the way.”

Perttola’s journey in the industry began at the age of 14, when victory in a school cookery competition led to weekend shifts at Birmingham’s three-rosette Opus restaurant.

Previously a finalist in the Chef Stagiaire and British Culinary Federation’s Young Chef of the Year competitions, he has also showcased his skills at the BBC’s long-running Good Food Show.

“Harvey’s expertise and experience alone would make him a great fit for us, but he also possesses vision and ambition befitting our restaurant,” said Nottinghamshire Commercial Director Michael Temple.

“His passion for fresh, seasonal ingredients and his lifelong love affair with the finest British flavour combinations dovetail perfectly with Six.

“We can’t wait to see what the combined talents of Harvey and our accomplished kitchen team can bring to Six.”
