Captain Sadie Hodgson led from the front with four wickets against Derbyshire as Notts extended their U18 Royal London County Cup winning streak to five games with a 45 run triumph at Blidworth Colliery Welfare Cricket Club.

The spinner’s haul, which ripped through the visitors’ middle order, was supplemented by a wicket apiece for Rhiannon Knowling-Davies, Libby Armitage, Rhianna Jones and Ruby Neal.

That ensured Notts defended their first innings total of 178/8 made from their full allocation of 40 overs.

Opener Maddie Ward top-scored with 44, while Eloise Della-Spina and Knowling-Davies made 25 and 20 respectively to put Notts in a strong position at 95/3.

Olivia Macey (30) was tasked with providing resistance in the middle order, however, with the rest of the Nottinghamshire batting line up dismissed for single figures, while extras contributed 29.

The visitors got off to a strong start and were well placed on 80/2 at drinks, but with the third wicket of Eve Mitchener - Hodgson’s first - the visitors lost their final seven for the addition of 35 runs.

Macey had already completed the run out of opener and captain Lara Shaw, before Armitage had Derbyshire’s top scorer Jessica Smithurst caught and bowled amidst the collapse

Hodgson, who finished with figures of 4-21 from her eight overs, then added Harriet Parkin, Olivia Haskell and Jessica Thatcher to her collection, with the final four wickets falling for nine runs.
