Nottinghamshire U18s Maddie Ward, Rhiannon Knowling-Davies, Libby Armitage and Ella Porter will all travel to Shrewsbury School this week to represent Lightning Academy in the Regional Academy Festival.

Over five days, Lightning will play two T20 games and two 50 over games with Western Storm, South East Stars, Central Sparks and Sunrisers providing the opposition.

The quartet’s inclusion in the squad comes with their continued involvement in the pathway of the regional set-up.

All four have also represented Nottinghamshire with aplomb this year. In the U18 Royal London County Cup, Porter, Knowling-Davies and Ward are Notts’ top run scorers, with Porter making an unbeaten 95 against Leicestershire in a 13-run victory.

Armitage, meanwhile, is the Green and Golds’ top wicket taker in the competition with 10 at an average of 16.5. Her best bowling figures of 5-19 against Lincolnshire also included a hat-trick.

In the Vitality Women’s County T20, where the Outlaws secured third place at Finals Day, Ward also claimed 10 dismissals behind the stumps with seven stumpings and three catches, while Porter and Knowling-Davies offered contributions with bat and ball.
