Resuming on 329/5, Notts lost quick wickets in the morning session, before Fletcher’s 52-ball half century.
Buoyed by the momentum, Australian Pattinson dismissed Robson for nine - his first of four wickets - with Stuart Broad wrapping up the Middlesex tail for 195.
Having decided not to enforce the follow on, the Green and Golds will resume 226 runs ahead.
