Wicketkeeper-batter Dane Schadendorf has extended his stay at Nottinghamshire by signing a two-year deal with the club.
The 20-year-old finished the 2022 season as the leading run scorer in the Second XI Championship with 1,001, the most made by any player in a single campaign since 2006.
With the gloves, the Nottinghamshire Academy product claimed 34 dismissals (30 catches, four stumpings), topping the charts for the 2022 competition.
The former Zimbabwe U19 international also featured in all nine of Notts Outlaws’ List A fixtures, claiming ten dismissals behind the stumps.
“Nottinghamshire has become my home away from home in the last few years, so to be able to extend my stay is very pleasing,” Schadendorf said.
“Regular game time has allowed me to progress as a cricketer, and I feel fortunate to be afforded the opportunities that I have.
“I am still young and there is scope to improve, as I have already in the last two years. My focus is on continuing to do that.
“I want to be the most complete multi-format player possible, and I know there are areas for me to look at through the winter and over the next couple of years to enable me to go as far as I can in the game.”
In all, Schadendorf has made 23 Championship and 20 T20 appearances for Nottinghamshire in the Second Eleven competitions.
In 2021, he made his First-Class debut, deputising mid-game for Ben Duckett, and has featured in every one of Notts Outlaws’ Royal London Cup fixtures over the last two years.
“I’m really pleased for Dane as he’s worked so hard over the last twelve months and it’s great to see it result in some match-winning performances this season,” said Moores.
“To be the leading run-scorer in Second Eleven cricket is a real feather in his cap and bodes well for his future progression in the game.
“He has a natural ability to strike a ball and his red ball development suggests this will transfer across to all formats in the future.
“His keeping continues to improve with the challenge of consistency being his main goal.
“This winter will provide him with another opportunity to progress his game further to keep pushing for a regular first team place.”
