Nottinghamshire batter Sol Budinger has opted to part ways with the Green and Golds having signed a contract with Leicestershire.

The 23-year-old will join the Foxes on loan from today, before moving permanently at the conclusion of the 2022 season.

Budinger has made 17 List A appearances for Notts spanning two seasons on the professional staff, averaging 32.68, with a top score of 89 against Gloucestershire. He has also appeared nine times in the Vitality Blast, with a best of 24 and an average of 13.71.

“We pride ourselves on creating opportunities for our players on and off the field, and Sol has benefited from that environment during his time at the club,” said Nottinghamshire Head Coach Peter Moores.

“He has developed year-on-year since joining us at 18, which is both a credit to him and the support staff around him. It’s always sad to see a player of his potential move on, though we also understand his desire to play more first team cricket.

“We have focussed in recent years on building a strong squad which possesses the depth to be competitive in every format and maintains competition for places. Sol has had a big role to play in that squad effort and the exciting young talent we have at the club bodes well for the future.

“Whilst we would have liked for him to stay, we respect his decision and look forward to seeing how his game progresses in the coming years.”
