The seamer took 6-45 as the Green and Golds claimed the ascendency on day three at Trent Bridge, with visitors Somerset bowled out for 173 after Notts' first innings 256.
He then contributed with bat in hand as the hosts concluded 187/6, a lead of 270 going into the final day.
