Sam Seecharan completed a century before Fateh Singh hit fifty and took three wickets as Nottinghamshire’s Second XI dominated the third day of their Championship clash at Durham.

After day two was lost to rain, the visitors amassed 481 runs before declaring seven wickets down, leaving sufficient time to dismiss nine Durham batters before stumps.

Durham closed on 177/9, trailing by 304 runs.

Earlier, Sammy King resumed on 101, and was able to add a further 28 to his tally before being dismissed by Stanley McAlindon.

Seecharan, however, picked up the baton from his middle-order partner, hitting nine fours and five sixes in an innings of 110.

Tom Loten compiled a useful 35 from 47 balls, before Seecharan’s departure cleared the stage for a hard-hitting knock from Fateh Singh, the all-rounder finding the fence on eight occasions in scoring 58 from 42.

In reply, Durham were three down inside the opening ten overs, Toby Pettman removing Harry Crawshaw and Haydon Mustard, and James Hayes accounting for Ross Whitfield.

Hayes would then see off Luke Doneathy, before Singh’s spin proved too good for Jonathan Bushnell and George Drissell.

There was a wicket apiece for Farhan Ahmed and Byron Hatton-Lowe, and a further scalp for Singh, with Durham limping past 150 before the close.
