Notts’ Second XI claimed victory in the second of their two T20 encounters against Derbyshire at the Incora County Ground, as Tom Loten steered his side home with an unbeaten 39.

The visitors secured a five-wicket victory with three overs to spare, having dismissed their opponents for 99 in 16 overs.

Ben Wilcox (2/5) finished with the most impressive bowling figures as wickets were shared around the Outlaws attack, with the right-armer luring Anuj Dal (53) into a miscued drive while also accounting for Suranga Lakmal.

James Hayes and Toby Pettman (2/10 each) also claimed braces, while Matthew Carter, Loten, Calvin Harrison and Farhan Ahmed secured a scalp apiece.

In reply, Notts lost Xavier Clarke, Travis Holland and Wilcox for single-figure scores, but Loten was able to anchor the chase with 39 from 42 deliveries.

After Harrison and Sammy King also came and went, the all-rounder found support from Carter, who finished unbeaten on 18 and hit the winning runs.

Earlier, the Outlaws had been defeated by 82 runs in a higher-scoring contest, with Samit Patel marking his return to Notts colours with three wickets.

Patel removed Haider Ali, Luis Reece and Leus du Plooy as an experienced Derbyshire line-up looked to pile on the runs on home turf, with the trio all passing fifty.

The stalwart all-rounder also helped to effect the run-out of Brooke Guest (16), while Hayes and Pettman also claimed wickets as the Falcons closed on 215/6.

The Outlaws chase saw captain Calvin Harrison hit 42 from 33 deliveries, with King (30) and Raheem Ahmed (20) also making useful contributions, but the visitors remained behind the required run rate throughout.
