The dawn of winter spells the arrival of numerous overseas leagues for those at both Nottinghamshire and The Blaze.

Here is a rundown of the assignments in which Trent Bridge-based players are set to be represented over the coming months:

Women’s Big Bash League, Australia (19 October - 2 December)

Sarah Glenn’s second stint in the WBBL has started in enterprising fashion, with her Brisbane Heat side top of the ladder having won their opening three games.

The leg spinner took 4-23 in her opening fixture against Tammy Beaumont’s Melbourne Renegades as the Heat triumphed by six runs at Junction Oval, Melbourne.

The Renegades have since gone on to beat Adelaide Strikers and lose to Sydney Thunder, and sit in mid-table.

Having not entered in the initial draft stage due to an injury which has since healed, Nat Sciver-Brunt has since traveled to Western Australia as a replacement for Danni Wyatt at Perth Scorchers, who themselves have won two and lost one of their opening three matches.

Abu Dhabi T10, Abu Dhabi (28 November - 9 December)

The seventh season of the 10-overs-per-side Abu Dhabi tournament will be played at the Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium across November and December.

Alex Hales will be returning for his fourth campaign in the Middle East and his third with Team Abu Dhabi. Joe Clarke, meanwhile, has moved to Deccan Gladiators having represented Bangla Tigers in 2022 and Team Abu Dhabi in 2021.

Big Bash League, Australia (7 December - 24 January)

Clarke travels to Melbourne for the BBL once done in Abu Dhabi, swapping the green of Stars he wore last year for the red of the Renegades. It’ll be the top order batter’s fourth straight T20 season Down Under.

Hales, too, will cross the Indian Ocean from Abu Dhabi to Australia to represent Sydney Thunder for the fourth time, having won the T20 World Cup with England in Australia last winter.

Notts’ have coaching representation, too, in Peter Moores who joins Melbourne Stars, having earned his first franchise coaching stint with Karachi Kings in Pakistan last year.

SA20, South Africa (10 January - 10 February)

Olly Stone heads back to MI Cape Town for the second edition of the SA20, having taken six wickets in three matches last year.

International League T20, UAE (19 January - 18 February)

The familiar franchise duo of Clarke and Hales head back to Asia after the BBL to represent Abu Dhabi Knightriders and Desert Vipers respectively in the second edition of the ILT20.

Hales’ Vipers finished runners up in the inaugural version of the competition last year, captained by Outlaws’ 2023 overseas batter Colin Munro.

Women’s Premier League, India (Dates TBC)

Nat Sciver-Brunt has been retained by reigning champions Mumbai Indians as the Harmanpreet Kaur-led side seek to secure back-to-back titles.

Sciver-Brunt finished the 2023 edition as the second highest run scorer in the competition.

Club Cricket

Notts’ young guns Fateh Singh and James Hayes are both plying their trade in Melbourne over the winter, with Singh at Mont Albert Cricket Club and Hayes joining Dandenong Cricket Club, the home of former Notts overseas James Pattinson.

Ben Martindale, who signed a three-year deal with the Green and Golds in the summer, is playing in Perth at Wembley District Cricket Club.

International Cricket

All-rounder Lyndon James and incoming seamer Josh Tongue have been named in a 21-player group to travel to the UAE with England Lions for a training camp from November 16 to December 7.

Meanwhile, Paul Franks will travel as part of the coaching team to India for a quadrangular series with England U19s, before assuming the same role at the ICC Men’s Under 19s World Cup in the new year.

Among the players under Franks' stewardship will be Notts' 15-year-old spinner Farhan Ahmed.
