Tom Moores led a valiant chase of 209 against Somerset in the Abu Dhabi Counties Super Cup to leave Notts with a chance of a place in tomorrow’s final.

The left-hander struck a 32-ball 73 in an innings including 12 boundaries, to take the Outlaws within 29 of their target.

He was assisted by a fluent 40 from Jack Haynes who followed up his unbeaten 20 in the opening game.

85 from Tom Lammonby and Tom Banton’s 38-ball 68 had given the Wyverns cause for optimism at the break, despite Calvin Harrison bowling economically to return 1-27 from his four overs.

Meanwhile James Hayes and Toby Pettman collected a wicket apiece to dent Somerset’s progress.

Haynes then injected pace into Notts’ steady start in reply, with Moores accelerating the rate following the number three's departure.

The wicketkeeper-batter’s demise catalyzed a fightback for Somerset, however, with South Westerners collecting their first win after defeat to Yorkshire on day one.
