Maddie Ward hit 41 and took two wickets, but Nottinghamshire were unable to prevent Shropshire from prevailing in their Women’s 50-over clash at Allscott CC.

Batting first, Notts made 154 before being dismissed inside 39 overs, with Annie Williams’ 35 at the top of the order joining Ward’s 41 as the key contributions for the visitors.

Shropshire lost opener Erin Newey early in their chase, removed without scoring to leave the hosts 2/1, but Lara Jones and Robyn Matthews were able to compile a 95-run partnership before the former was bowled by Ward.

Matthews departed at the hands of Hayva Abbott soon after, and Ward would go on to remove Alex Hale, but Shropshire reached their target with six wickets in hand inside 28 overs.
