Nottinghamshire’s Josh Beer and Toby Lambert helped guide the Midlands Under-18 side to glory in the prestigious ECB Super 4s tournament in Loughborough.

With Beer as captain, the Midlands representative side saw off London & East by 17 runs in the final of the competition, which brings together the most promising Under-18 cricketers in the country for a week of round-robin action.

The formats are mixed, with both 50-over and T20 cricket being played, and it was in the latter that the Midlands side triumphed, defending their 151 by bowling London and East out for 134.

Beer, 16, amassed 199 runs across the week and claimed two wickets, including a game-changing 82 from 78 balls in a 50-over clash against the North side that saw the Midlands win by a nail-biting one wicket.

Meanwhile Lambert, 17, added a further 100 with the bat, contributing to the Midlands’ unbeaten T20 campaign that culminated in their triumph in the final.
