Jack Haynes continued his fine-form by scoring a century as Notts Outlaws secured their second Metro Bank One Day Cup win of the season against Glamorgan.

The hosts set Notts a target of 278 in their first innings which included wickets on debut from Academy graduate Byron Hatton-Lowe.

Haynes’ game-changing 124 runs came from 104 balls which included 15 boundaries, while there were also half-centuries scored by Ben Slater and Haseeb Hameed to secure victory by seven wickets.

Captain Hameed won the toss and chose to bowl first, and with a host of changes from the defeat against Leicestershire, it was Dillon Pennington who opened the bowling alongside Rob Lord.

Despite Pennington finding some movement off the pitch, Glamorgan’s openers settled well and reached 56/0 after the Powerplay.

They would soon lose their first wicket though as Hatton-Lowe found the breakthrough to take his maiden Notts wicket, as Tribe had to depart for 43 picking out Ben Martindale on the boundary.

The debutant struck again just three overs later, Henry Hurle this time picking out Sammy King on the boundary.

Eddie Byrom continued to motor on as the opener moved closer to his half-century alongside captain Kiran Carlson, seeing the hosts to 118/2 from 20 overs.

Rob Lord came back into the attack and found the breakthrough however, removing Byrom for 62 after a good take in the deep from Martindale, he then struck in his next over removing Carlson.

Glamorgan moved to 144/4 from 26 overs with Billy Root and Will Smale at the crease.

The pair didn’t last long though as a bizarre run out saw Joe Pocklington almost catch Root out of his crease at the strikers end before Haseeb Hameed, who was backing up, quickly spotted Smale short of his ground at the other end, nailing the stumps and sending the hosts’ wicket-keeper packing.

Root and Ul Hassan controlled the scoring after losing quick wickets putting on a 40 partnership while the former moved closer to his half-century before Pocklington took the wicket of Ul Hassan after a sharp catch from Hameed at mid-wicket.

With ten overs to go, Glamorgan were 213/6 and Billy Root was joined by Dan Douthwaite. They started to attack and upped the run rate as Root made it to his fifty.

The pair put on 57 for the seventh wicket before Douthwaite was removed by Lyndon James for 36 (27).

Root and Gorvin fell late on as the hosts ended their innings 278/9.

Martindale and Slater got off to a solid start until the former was caught behind by Smale for 21.

Notts were 46/1 from the first ten overs but Slater and Haynes kept the scoreboard ticking over, the opener reaching his half-century in the 23rd over.

He would fall soon after though, after finding the man at deep mid-wicket for 57, leaving Notts 118/2 at the half-way stage.

Haynes began to motor after a steady start, joined by skipper Hameed as the pair began to accelerate.

The Outlaws’ number three reached his half-century from 62 balls and moved to an even higher gear once he raised his bat.

From 35 overs, Notts were 193/2 with the third-wicket stand now past 50 thanks to back to back boundaries from Haynes.

Haynes' quick-hitting had completely changed the complexion of the match and he moved to his century from 94 balls, going from 50 to 100 in just 32 deliveries.

The innings saw Notts needing just 40 from the final ten overs with the third-wicket stand at 121.

Haynes eventually fell for 124, leaving Notts just 22 to win from 8 overs.

Hameed moved to a run-a-ball half century late on while Lyndon James struck the winning runs to secure Notts’ second win of the campaign.
