Trent Bridge has once again gone international for the winter, as numerous players from both Nottinghamshire and The Blaze have jetted off for overseas assignments.

As the nights continue to draw in and the UK wraps up warm to celebrate Christmas, follow where in the world The Blaze are plying their trade.

WOMEN’S BIG BASH LEAGUE (AUSTRALIA)

There was glory to celebrate in the recently-concluded Women’s Big Bash, as Hobart Hurricanes, with their trio of Nat Sciver-Brunt, Kathryn Bryce, and Heather Graham lifted the trophy.

In a home final at Ninja Stadium, the Hurricanes comfortably chased down Perth Scorchers’ 137-5 with eight wickets to spare to claim their maiden title.

Also involved in the competition were Tammy Beaumont and Amy Jones, who played for Adelaide Strikers and Melbourne Stars, respectively.

Beaumont was the Strikers’ second-highest run-scorer with 234, but her side’s seventh-place finish saw them eliminated from play-off contention.

Jones coincidentally also hit 234 runs as her side fared better, reaching the Knockout match after finishing fourth, but the Stars were ultimately eliminated at that point by the Scorchers.

WOMEN’S NATIONAL CRICKET LEAGUE & GRADE CRICKET (AUSTRALIA)

Additionally, Bryce has represented two other sides outside of the Big Bash, both on the island of Tasmania.

She has seven wickets in four matches at just 20.57 apiece for Tasmania in the 50-over Women’s National Cricket League, while simultaneously turning out for New Town in grade cricket.

Her numbers at that level are striking, boasting 556 runs from just 12 games at a startling 79.43, in addition to ten wickets too.

Also in Hobart, though on the opposite side of the River Derwent to Bryce, is Michaela Kirk, who is representing Clarence District in first-grade cricket.

She has 350 runs to her name thus far at a similarly hefty average of 70, and boasts a high score of 101, against none other than New Town - though Kirk and Bryce did not play against one another.

Completing the grade cricket trio, Georgie Boyce is spending a winter on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland.

Boyce is mixing her outings between second-grade men’s and first-grade women’s cricket, playing for Glasshouse District and Sunshine Coast, respectively, and has 273 runs overall.

ICC EMERGING NATIONS TROPHY (THAILAND)

While Kathryn Bryce is south of the Equator, her sister Sarah spent time just north of it, captaining Scotland in the ICC Emerging Nations Trophy in Thailand.

Set up in the aftermath of the successful Women’s World Cup in India, the inaugural competition, played in the T20 format, brought eight associate nations together in a round-robin league.

Bryce scored 120 runs at an average of 30 and led Scotland to five wins from their seven games, though the quality on show at the tournament meant that only saw them finish fourth.

Hosts Thailand, one of only two sides to beat Bryce’s side, won the competition on net run rate, ahead of the United Arab Emirates and the Netherlands.

In the lower half of the table, with points totals ranging from eight to two, were Papua New Guinea, Uganda, Namibia, and Tanzania.
