Derek Brewer, Nottinghamshire's former Chief Executive, has been awarded an OBE in the King's New Year's honours for services to cricket.

Brewer was appointed Chief Executive at Trent Bridge in 2005, overseeing on-field success and ground developments before leaving to become Secretary and Chief Executive of MCC in 2012.

Notts won the County Championship title twice during Brewer's time with the club - in 2005 and 2010 - and were awarded with a programme of major matches which included Men's Ashes Tests in 2013 and 2015.

Off-field developments during his tenure included the construction of the PKF Smith Cooper Stand, and the completion of plans for the Radcliffe Road replay screen, groundstaff office and Scoreboard Suite.

Brewer is joined on the honours list by cricket administrator Barry O'Brien (OBE) and former England bowler and broadcaster Isa Guha (MBE).

Nottingham's Ice Dancing Olympic gold medallists Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean, meanwhile, receive Damehoods and Knighthoods respectively
