Kirstie Gordon will join Kathryn and Sarah Bryce as part of the Scotland national team after committing her international future to the country of her birth.

Gordon, who was born in Huntly in Aberdeenshire, previously earned 60 caps for Scotland after making her debut aged 14.

However, after attending Loughborough University and making her Nottinghamshire debut in 2016, she opted to switch her allegiance to England to pursue a full-time professional career.

She was subsequently selected for England and featured at the 2018 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup as well in a one-off Test match against Australia in 2019.

The 28-year-old left-arm spinner is currently rehabilitating from a back injury, but will be available for Scotland squads following her return to fitness.

“I feel like I’ve really connected with [Scotland Head Coach Craig Wallace] and his vision for the team,” said Gordon.

“If you couple that with the chance to play again with two of my best mates in Kathryn and Sarah, it feels like it’s the right moment to ‘come home.’”

Gordon’s decision comes as Scotland prepare for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Qualifier in Nepal in January.

Having qualified for the 2024 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, held in the UAE, Scotland now again sit just one step away from making it to the 2026 competition in England.

“It’s been brilliant to watch the recent success of the team, and Kathryn has been a huge influence in that,” added Gordon.”

“She’s always one to lead by example and stand up in those pressure moments, and I think the team follow her. Now you can see more young players coming through and they are fearless.

“The way they want to take the game on is brilliant, and there’s a real balance to the team, so I’m just excited to hopefully be part of that in whatever role I’m required.”
