After a testing first day against Somerset, Assistant Head Coach Paul Franks says Nottinghamshire need to be prepared to fight over the remainder of the game.

Centuries from James Rew and Tom Abell, the former unbeaten, saw the West Country outfit to 338-4 at stumps on Day One at Trent Bridge.

That was in spite of Mohammad Abbas’ three early wickets, and Franks singled him out for praise while urging the side to give no quarter over the three days to come.

He also reflected on the conditions and overheads in Nottingham, as well as on the showing of Calvin Harrison, making his first Rothesay County Championship appearance of 2025.
