Calvin Harrison has called on his fellow Outlaws to show intensity from ball one as the second phase of the Vitality Blast group stages begins tomorrow night.

Harrison is part of a 14-man squad for the fixture at Durham (Friday 4 July, 6.30pm start).

Olly Stone returns to the squad following injury, while Dillon Pennington concludes his two-match suspension, and Moises Henriques (back) remains absent.

The fixture represents a quick change in formats from a pair of four-day fixtures, but Harrison feels the squad are well-equipped to deal with the challenge.

“It’s all about the intensity,” he said.

“We need to be switched on from ball one tomorrow night. As a spinner in particular, you have to be on your lengths straight away.

We’ll look at the analysis of where to bowl, and our benchmark will be to hit that from ball one and give them no freebies.”

Harrison returns from his red-ball loan at Northamptonshire having scored his maiden County Championship ton, while also taking five wickets in a drawn encounter with Kent.

“I’m feeling confident all-round,” he said of his return to the Notts fold after a productive week

“I got some good overs under my belt, and it was good to tick off the hundred too.

“Hopefully that confidence will help me to transition well into the white-ball stuff.”

The Outlaws enter the second block of Blast fixtures in sixth place in the North Group – just four points behind fourth-placed Leicestershire, with four points awarded for a win this season.

“It’s a straightforward task for us now – we know what we need to do,” said Harrison.

“We know how many wins we’re likely to need, so if we focus on ourselves, give it everything and do what we do well, we’ll be in a good position.

“We’re prepared for it to go to the wire, and if it does, we have the squad to deal with that.”

Durham racked up 193 runs in their last Blast clash at Chester-le-Street, and Harrison is prepared for another runfest in traditionally batter-friendly conditions.

“It’s normally a pretty good wicket, but we’ll assess the conditions when we get up there,” he said.

“It’s important we go in with positive intent, looking to score boundaries, but keep communicating with each other about what’s working best.”
