Matt Montgomery hammered a 75-ball hundred as Notts Outlaws warmed up for next month’s Metro Bank One Day Cup with a thumping 160-run win over Lincolnshire in Cleethorpes.
Put in after the hosts won the toss, the Outlaws racked up an imposing 379-6 as Montgomery top-scored and Dane Schadendorf blasted an unbeaten 65 off just 30 balls.
The duo were backed up by Ben Slater’s 62 from 56 at the top of the order, while Sammy King also contributed a half-century in adding a further 54 from just 37 balls.
In response, Lincolnshire were only able to muster 219, with James Hayes, who claimed 3/56, the chief architect of the pressure under which they crumbled.
Jordan Cook top-scored for the hosts with 60, while Ben Jones added 48 and shared in a partnership worth 118 with Cook for the sixth wicket.
However, once those two were parted, the remaining four came quickly, with Lincolnshire, having been 84-5 when Cook and Jones came together, found themselves bowled out just five overs later.
Tom Giles returned 2/21, Montgomery collected 2/41, and Rob Lord took 2/43, as Haseeb Hameed’s side returned westwards from Cleethorpes with a morale-boosting victory.
