Dillon Pennington is raring to go ahead of the return of Rothesay County Championship action to Trent Bridge.

Notts ended the first block of Vitality Blast action on a high with a 24-run win away to Northants Steelbacks, and now host Yorkshire for the return of the red ball.

“I love the format, so it’s exciting for me,” said Pennington, who has been included in a 14-strong squad for the visit of the White Rose.

“After a month of having blokes try to haul you around the park, it’s good!” he continued with a smile. “I think we’re on a really good run, and confidence is high.”

The Green and Golds come into the eighth round of the Championship leading Division One by ten points from defending champions Surrey.

Pennington is therefore happy to state that confidence is naturally high, and it is only increased by the recent arrival of Indian all-formats international wicketkeeper Ishan Kishan.

“We’ve had our preview breakfast this morning, and everyone’s up and raring to go,” he said.

“We’re a good group. Ishan has obviously come in too, which is exciting - he’s a really good guy.”

Ishan will deputise for Kyle Verreynne while the World Test Championship-winning South African is on international duty for a two-Test series against Zimbabwe.

He enters a group that has put on strong showings so far, but Pennington knows that must continue to earn a positive result against Yorkshire.

“We’re all looking forward to getting back out there for the Championship,” he continued.

“[Yorkshire] look like they’ve got a good side on paper, so that makes it an exciting challenge going into the game.

“We beat them last time we played them at Headingley before the Blast, so we’re all hopeful we can do the same here from tomorrow.

Pennington claimed a five-wicket haul on the last occasion of the sides meeting in the First-Class arena, at Headingley in the last round before the Championship made way for the Blast.

However, the seamer said he pays little attention to performances past, and, with a wry smile, gave short shrift to the suggestion that it will have an effect a month on.

“Clean slate, go again!” he chuckled.
