Travis Holland top-scored for Nottinghamshire 2nd XI with a fluent 34 but a total of 23 wickets fell on Day One against Middlesex at Lady Bay.

Put in, the Green and Golds were dismissed for 105 as Naavya Sharma collected six wickets, though there was time in the middle for Holland, Matt Montgomery, and Byron Hatton-Lowe.

Holland’s innings lasted 49 balls before he retired not out, while Montgomery added 29 in 35 balls and 18-year-old Hatton-Lowe chipped in with 24.

In response, Middlesex were bowled out quickly themselves for 159, as all four of Conor McKerr, Tom Giles, Ben Martindale, and Daanyaal Mahmood took two wickets apiece.

Mahmood was the most economical, returning figures of 2/9, while Saif Ali and Rob Lord each took a single scalp to wrap the innings up.

Batting once again at the end of the day, two wickets for Ishaan Kaushal put Notts on 15-3 at stumps, with Dane Schadendorf unbeaten on eight.
