Sarah Glenn is delighted to be back as The Blaze look to continue an unbeaten start to the Vitality Blast away to Durham tomorrow.
“It’s always good getting back here with the girls, especially with them going really well,” smiled the leg-spinner.”
“I’ve had the stream up for most of the games while I’ve been away, so it will be nice to get back amongst it!”
Glenn and England teammate Tammy Beaumont, fresh off the back of a nine-wicket win to seal a 3-0 ODI whitewash of West Indies, both return for the trip to Banks Homes Riverside.
They re-enter the fray at a time when The Blaze have begun the Blast with three wins and a tie, alongside a washout, to sit second.
That puts them just one point behind Surrey, whom they defeated at the Kia Oval by 17 runs last night, to remain as the only still-unbeaten side in the competition.
“It was a big win!” smiled Glenn. “Obviously, Surrey are a stacked side, and to do it away as well was really impressive.
“I was really proud of the girls, and it makes me even more excited to join up with them again tomorrow!
“The standard of it is unbelievable. It’s so challenging, and it’s so good that when you do go back into the England environment, you feel so prepared,” she continued.
“I can’t fault the girls with how hard they train, so it’s just nice to keep working on my game outside of England.”
While she is naturally hopeful of a match-winning performance herself, Glenn is keen to utilise her time back with The Blaze to pass on much of what she has gleaned at international level.
Despite being capped 91 times by her country, the 25-year-old stresses that no player is bigger than the team, and will slot in to fulfil the role that is required of her.
“I just see it as some more Blaze players coming to play, really,” she said. “I just want to make a big impact - obviously, performance-wise would be ideal!
“But if not, then if I can help off the field, and just get around the girls and share what I can, then I’m happy.”
In particular, Glenn is keen to keep her presence from becoming overcomplicated, and notes that the most enjoyable part of joining up with The Blaze again is found in simply being there.
“It kind of goes back-and-forth, but it’s more just trying not to be too technical with my knowledge,” she says of what she is attempting to pass on.
“It’s more just about what I’ve learnt over the years from my performances, so I just try and be there for the girls if they’re struggling.
“Then, when they do well, I just be their fangirl! Either way, it’s really nice to be able to share that with them.”
