Sam Seecharan slammed an unbeaten 56 from just 27 balls as Notts Outlaws 2nd XI comprehensively saw off Derbyshire by nine wickets at Worksop College.

Seecharan’s knock included five fours and four sixes, and punished a Derbyshire side that had set the Outlaws just 120 to win after James Hayes had returned 3/23 from four overs.

Travis Holland added 47 not out from 30 balls, as he and Seecharan put on an unbroken 101 in just 54 balls to complete victory with an eye-watering 9.4 overs to spare.

Hayes, along with Rob Lord, Tom Giles, Akand Gangotra, and Joe Pocklington, all of whom claimed a wicket each, restricted the visitors to a below-par total after opting to insert them.

Captain Brooke Guest’s 44 from 42, before he was run out by George Lavelle, helped the visitors scrape three figures, but a strong Notts showing with the ball kept the total to 119-8.

Ben Martindale blasted 12 off just five balls to get the chase off to a flier, before Seecharan and Holland took up the mantle.

Together, they raced to 62-1 after six overs, before taking a further 20 runs off the eighth to put the Outlaws within striking distance.

Seecharan then reached his fifty with a four from the first ball of the 11th over, and one delivery later, followed it up with the winning runs.
