Kathryn Bryce has backed The Blaze to regroup after a dramatic Vitality Blast opener ended in a tie against Bears Women.

Bryce hit a half-century as The Blaze valiantly pursued Bears’ 160, ultimately scrambling a single from the final ball to secure a share of the spoils.

“Games come thick and fast, so there’s not much time to dwell on the matches you’ve had,” she said.

“We go again tomorrow, so it’s just about regrouping and getting ready to go.

Bryce top-scored for The Blaze with an unbeaten 60 from 53 balls, forging a formidable partnership with Georgia Elwiss.

“It was great batting out there with G,” she said.

“She batted brilliantly – it was her first time opening the batting for The Blaze but I think she was really smart in the way she went about it.

“She was really clear, and it was a fantastic innings.

“It was a big playing surface tonight and there were a lot of twos out there, so I was happy with how we ran between the wickets.”

“Sarah [Bryce, who made 27 from 18 balls] was great too, the way she came in and struck boundaries. She’ll be disappointed not to have got us over the line, but she got us in the position to get the tie.”

Bryce also praised the efforts of her teammates with the ball, as they began brightly before restricting the Bears towards the end of their innings.

“Grace started brilliantly with the ball, and we did well to get them four down early,” she said.

“They batted really well through that middle periods and ran really well, so we did really well to restrict them to 160 in the end.”
