Trent Bridge will play host to Rushcliffe Borough Council’s Sleepout event on Friday 14 November, with people invited to spend the night at the world-renowned venue to raise money for the Trent Bridge Community Trust and The Friary Drop-In Centre.
Those taking on the challenge will sleep under the stars at the home of Nottinghamshire CCC.
The sleepout begins at 7pm on Friday 14 November, with attendees provided with an evening meal.
Following a quiz and group photo, those taking part will be invited to take to their sleeping bags from 10pm, before enjoying breakfast upon completion of the challenge at 6.30am.
The Trent Bridge Community Trust delivers projects that have a profound and meaningful impact on communities across the county – including the Positive Futures programme for young people at risk of social exclusion, Forget Me Notts for individuals affected by dementia, and the Notts in Mind initiative, which offers physical and mental wellbeing support to women.
The Friary Drop-In Centre, meanwhile, is a charity in West Bridgford that empowers homeless and vulnerable adults in the local community by offering practical services, confidential advice and emotional support.
James Aspinall, the Trent Bridge Community Trust’s Youth Intervention Manager, is among those taking part in the challenge.
“I’ve never taken part in anything like this before, so I’m excited, but also a bit apprehensive,” he said.
“I’m sure we’ll all keep each other’s spirits high through the night – and we’ll be hoping for the weather to be kind!
“But it will also be a powerful reminder that, for many people, sleeping rough is a nightly reality.
“The fact that we’ll be helping some of the most vulnerable individuals in the Rushcliffe community – including those we support through the Trent Bridge Community Trust – will keep us going through the night.”
Individuals interested in sponsoring James can do so by visiting the JustGiving page here..
Those interested in taking part in the sleepout can sign up by emailing james.aspinall@trentbridge.co.uk Entry costs £15 (U16s free if accompanied by an adult), with prizes for the top fundraisers.
Attendees are asked to bring a sleeping bag, warm clothes and snacks, while hot drinks will be provided through the night.
