Nottinghamshire have been crowned as 2025 County Champions, marking the club’s first Division One title in 15 years.
By virtue of achieving five bonus points in the final match of the season at home to Warwickshire, the Green and Golds formally confirmed their first title since 2010.
Having defeated nearest challengers Surrey by 20 runs in a tense tussle at the Kia Oval last week, Notts went into the final round needing a maximum of ten points to secure the title.
However, after the Brown Caps failed to collect any batting bonuses from their own match against Hampshire, that required total dropped to just five.
With three bowling bonuses already safe after the Bears were dismissed for 258 on the opening day, Peter Moores’ side were left with the simple equation of needing 300 in 110 overs to bank the bonuses and seal the title.
Led by captain Haseeb Hameed’s century, the hosts amassed the required runs in exactly 84 overs, as Kyle Verreynne hit the winning runs - doing so in style with a sizeable six - to spark the celebrations.
It is also the first time the Green and Golds have won the title at Trent Bridge since 1987, when Clive Rice led a squad containing Sir Richard Hadlee and Mick Newell to the crown.
Two days still remain in the clash against the Bears, and Hameed will be presented with the trophy following the end of the match on Saturday.
Prices have been specially reduced for the match, with adults able to witness the trophy lift for just £15, concessions for £10, and juniors for £7.
