Olly Stone produced the ball of the day to bowl Somerset’s Tom Kohler-Cadmore as Nottinghamshire showed great resolve to restrict their hosts to 292-6 on day one in Taunton.
Stone ended the day with 2/65, while spinner Liam Patterson-White claimed 2/50 and there was a further scalp apiece for Stone’s fellow quicks Dillon Pennington and Rob Lord.
Such an effort helped to counteract former home captain Tom Abell’s 108, while the Green and Gold bowlers also eventually got the better of James Rew after he had made 64.
