Nat Sciver-Brunt feels the close links forged in the Trent Rockets camp have been integral to their successes this season, after turning in a Meerkat Match Hero performance to see her side straight through to The Hundred Final.

England captain Sciver-Brunt hit 32 from 19 balls to take her side within touching distance of their target, before Georgia Elwiss and Kim Garth finished the job to see the hosts home by three wickets.

“As a side we’ve gelled really well,” she said.

“There’s a different look to the team compared to the last few years, but I know a lot of these girls from years gone by, so you haven’t needed to get to know everyone at once.”

Sciver-Brunt was given a rare opportunity to add lower-order impetus to the chase, batting at number seven.

And she enjoyed the freedom her unusual role brought.

“I was really pleased to play an innings like that,” she said.

“I don’t get many chances to come in that late and get going as quickly as I did.

“I was clear in my mind what I wanted to do, and luckily it came off.

“I was just going for my shots – on another day a couple of them might have been caught, but that’s cricket I suppose.

“Our batting line up so far has been firing on all cylinders, so the way we’ve played throughout this competition has been reliant on that depth.

“That partnership with Ash [Gardner] and Bess [Heath, who put on 53 together] stopped the momentum they had and got us back into the game.”

The Rockets now have six days before taking their place in the showpiece at Lord’s – and Sciver-Brunt is looking forward to enjoying the comforts of home.

“We’ll get a couple of days away, so I’ll get to spend some time at home with [son] Theo,” she said.

“I love playing for this team and I love being at home, so in such a busy summer it’s priceless to be able to get that time at home.

“We’ll make sure everyone is refreshed, then we’ll switch back on to what we need to do and be ready for that game.”
