George Munsey is keen to repay the Trent Bridge faithful with a big performance tomorrow as Notts host Surrey for a place at Finals Day.

The opener, who is the Outlaws’ top-scorer in this year’s edition of the Vitality Blast, is part of a xx-man squad for the crunch quarter-final clash.

Munsey has scored more half-centuries in this season’s competition than any other batter, amassing five fifties across 12 outings.

And across six home games so far, he has appreciated the backing of the home support.

“First and foremost, it will be enjoyable having the home crowd on your side,” he said.

“I think it’s important to note that we want to play in front of our home fans, and we want to give them something special to remember.

“That’s the great thing about this club. You walk down into West Bridgford before a game, and you see the level of support we get. It’s just fantastic.

“It helps you remember that that’s why you play.

“Of course you play for yourself, but more importantly, you play for the team, and you play for the supporters. It’s going to be a very good occasion.”

Munsey’s scene-stealing performances propelled the Outlaws to a club record eight-game winning streak during the group stages, but he is quick to credit the rest of the Notts squad for stepping up in key moments.

“I’m very happy with the way I’m batting, but more importantly, I’m happier with the way things have gone for the team,” he said.

“I think we’ve got a great group here, and it’s been very easy to integrate and have a lot of fun. That’s what T20 cricket is all about, supporting your mates and putting on a show for the crowd.

“I think you’re seeing match-winners all the way through our playing XI, and that’s what’s important.

“It’s been about the collective and every player stepping up across all the games, whether it’s been the last few balls of the innings when we’re trying to get as many runs as possible, or closing out overs.

“The way the team has progressed has been really pleasing, and it should be a good game tomorrow night.”

Surrey, who finished second in the South Group, will provide a stern test as Notts seek a first Finals Day appearance since 2020, but Munsey is optimistic that the hosts can prevail.

“I think the club’s done really well to make it this far, especially after the start we had,” he said.

“The boys have rallied round and played some brilliant cricket. It’s now just about enjoying the occasion and I’m really looking forward to playing in front of a home crowd, and there’s no reason why we can’t progress.

“We’ve got the skill sets covered, and now it’s about going out there and doing what we’ve done, but at the business end of the tournament.

“We went on a brilliant winning streak over those eight games, so we just want to continue that good form.”
