Former Pakistan seamer Mohammad Amir has agreed a short-term deal to join Notts Outlaws for the remainder of the 2026 Vitality Blast.

Left-arm quick Amir, 34, has claimed 425 career Twenty20 wickets at an average of just 22.63 and an overall economy rate of 7.36 per over, with a best return of 6/17.

He is a two-time international trophy winner, having lifted the 2009 ICC T20 World Cup and the 2017 ICC Champions Trophy with Pakistan, both of which were hosted in England.

“I’m really excited to have joined Notts. I’ve heard lots of good things about this club, and I’m looking forward to it,” said Amir.

“I have lots and lots of memories at Trent Bridge, and I know that T20 is all about entertaining the people, so I’ll be trying my best to do well for this team and make this crowd happy.

“The team have played the last three games really well, and I’ll be trying to help carry that momentum forward throughout the tournament.”

Amir has won two trophies in English domestic cricket in his career, triumphing in the 2019 Vitality Blast with Essex and being part of Oval Invincibles’ 2024 The Hundred-winning squad.

He also tasted success in his homeland when he won the 2020 Pakistan Super League with Karachi Kings, and has further global franchise experience in Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and the West Indies.

“Mo has a great skill set for both the powerplay and the end of the innings, as well as the mental strength to deliver under pressure, which has made him so valuable to teams around the world,” added Notts Outlaws Head Coach, Peter Moores.

“This is not the first time I’ve been lucky enough to work with Mo, as our paths crossed in the PSL, when I coached Karachi Kings.

“Unfortunately, then he picked up an injury, which cut his tournament short, so I’m hoping for better luck this time!”

As a British passport holder, Amir will not be counted as an overseas player for the duration of his stay at Trent Bridge, which includes any potential knockout matches that Notts may play.

“He has great energy and passion to play, having experienced all the highs and lows our game can throw at you,” continued Moores.

“It’s this experience that will be invaluable to the team, as we move forward into the business and of the tournament.

“These are the sort of cricketers all teams need, with high skill and strong mental ability. Mo ticks both boxes, so we’re really excited to have him on board.”

The Outlaws, who have won their last three matches in the competition, currently sit second in the six-team North Group, from which the top two teams are guaranteed to qualify for the last eight.

Amir is available for selection for Friday’s trip to Kent Spitfires, a side the Outlaws have not faced in T20 cricket since 2007.
