Nottinghamshire opening batter Ben Slater has been awarded a testimonial year for 2027, in what will be his tenth season at Trent Bridge.
Slater, 34, joined the Green and Golds from Derbyshire midway through the 2018 campaign, and has since scored over 8,000 all-format runs for the club.
“I’m honoured and delighted to be awarded a testimonial year by this club, which I’ve loved playing for over the past nine seasons - and now the tenth is set to be extra special,” said Slater.
“I’m really grateful that the club have awarded me this, which is something that I never envisaged when I first came to Notts back in 2018.”
Slater is a two-time trophy winner, having helped Notts to the Division Two title and promotion in 2022, before scoring exactly 1,000 runs in the 2025 County Championship triumph.
“When I think about all the openers that have gone before me for this club, it’s a really proud moment for me to be doing what I do, and I love every day,” he continued.
“During the time I’ve been here, I’ve seen both Luke Fletcher and Steven Mullaney, legends of this club, be given the same honour, and I’m humbled to be in their long-serving company.”
“I’m really looking forward to a year of lots of different events, and hopefully together, we’ll raise a good amount of money for causes that I care about.”
Since being joined at Trent Bridge by current Club Captain Haseeb Hameed in 2020, the left-handed Slater has formed one half of a duo that has opened the batting for Notts over 100 times.
He has also enjoyed a bright start to the current campaign, notching 571 runs to sit third in the Division One run-scoring charts, with Notts leading the way at the top of the table after six games.
Nottinghamshire Director of Cricket, Mick Newell, added: “We’re pleased to award Ben a well-deserved testimonial year after several summers of outstanding service to Nottinghamshire.
“While his weight of runs and the trophies he has helped us secure during his time here showcase most obviously how valued he has been, his off-field character has been just as key.
“He has become a leader in our dressing room, and we are very proud of his personal and professional development over the past nine seasons.”
“Ben has earned this testimonial year, and I firmly believe the events that will take place during 2027 will be well received in return for his outstanding commitment to our club.”
A percentage of the proceeds raised from the events planned - of which further details will be shared in the coming months - will be donated to charity.
Further details on the events planned, and the benefitting charities involved, will be shared once they are confirmed.
